탄피 잠재지문 현출장비(Consolite CERA - U.K)

이 장비는 영국 과학수사관 (Dr. John Bond)에 의해 고안된 기술을 이용한 장비이며,  발사된 탄피(탄환)에서 잠재지문을 특별한 처리방법 (High electrostatic potential and a special charged powder)을 통해서 최단시간내에 현출해 내는 유일한 장비입니다.  일반적인 과학수사기법(가령 cyanoacrylite fuming and DNA swabbing) 으론 이러한 지문을 온전하게 찾아내기는 어려우며, 따라서 이러한 장점으로 각종총기살인사건을 다루는 북미지역에서 효과적으로 활용되고 있습니다. 더불어 탄피외 아래 그림에서와 같이 둥근 원통형(볼펜이나 날카로운공구)내 잠재지문을 현출해 내는 것도 가능합니다.
 


 

The Process (작동순서)

After insertion of the cartridge case CERA starts out by automatically measuring the size and shape of the casing, and then distributes the powder over the surface in a uniform and carefully measured way. The powder is attracted to areas of surface corrosion caused by chemicals in the fingerprint deposit. The user has complete control over the amount delivered to ensure optimum visibility of the print.

Once a clear print is obtained the powder distibution head moves aside to allow the high resolution camera to view the sample. Using a high quality lens and a special integrated lighting system the camera collects a number of images from the circumference of the cartridge and downloads them to the Consolite Forensic Imaging Software (CFIS).

CFIS stores the images in a fully traceable thread and, using specially developed algorithms, combines them together to produce a single image of the sample's surface. The output is available in 1:1, high resolution or in national/international database formats (e.g. IDENT1/AFIS)..

The entire process is seamless, requiring minimal operator training, but still allowing for operator input where preferred.
